Anyone know how to fix this? Im using DVD shrink with Nero. It seems like 1 out of every 3 discs comes out not burned all the way...I can see the ring on the outside part where its not burned. Its pretty random..I would try to burn the same movie and it would work.. DVD shrink does not report any error at all. Some of those DVD will play fine but at the end the movie will skip or freeze. Could it be the DVD R disc itself? Im using memorex 16x DVD-R. Anyone else with this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

The amount you see burned on the disc is simply a function of how much data you are burning. For example, a DVD typically holds roughly 4480 MB of data. If you burn 4000MB then you will see the 480 MB of left-over capacity as a ring on the DVD where no data was burned.

Memorex DVDs are junk. That is why you are getting the skipping and freezing.

This is what I recommend:

Use Taiyo Yuden, Ritek or Verbatim.
Your burn speed should be 4X.
Set Shrink's target size to 4400MB to keep the burn away from the outer edge.

A DVD that is not burned completely with Nero will not play at all and you will get error messages.

- see tnis link from my sig for reasons not to use Memorex - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/232406

let's have LAST section of your Nero log which lives in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log but DO NOT post your serial number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar.

You can differentiate sections via this section divider "====== *** Nero-Burning Rom, History File *** ======"

Burn speed can also bed an issue for choppieness, ergo, pauses and studders. Burn no faster than 4x, especially if you are using memorex.
