I was thinking of downloading dvd43 but was wondering if there are any problems that it causes. I have been having moderate success and hate to cause major problems.

I notice that afterdawn no longer has the download available due to
Finnish laws. Can anyone direct me to a site to download?

Does anyone know if anydvd is available in Canada?
thanks

DVD43 here: http://www.dvd43.com/

AnyDVD here: http://www.slysoft.com/en/

Pick on or the other, as they don't play well together. As a matter of fact if you have DVD43 on your PC when you install AnyDVD, AnyDVD will uninstall it.

BEWARE OF DVD43. I have just come across a dvd that I could not copy with Shrink so I downloaded icopydvd3 and DVD43.
It could not copy it either, BUT NOW SHRINK IS NOT RUNNING OK, AND I CANNOT GET RID OF THE BLOODY DVD43. IT WILL NOT LET YOU UNINSTALL IT.

**Edit b/c the train beat me**
Try this if your having trouble removing dvd43.
I use Anydvd myself and it has never let me down,
because it is consistantly updated.

You will get a free 21 day trial anyway so
check it out at no cost.

Good luck

Thanks for the quick answers. Got rid of DVD43.
AnyDVD could not copy the DVD either.
It seems that if you cannot copy it with Shrink you
might just forget it.
I found 2 DVDs I could not copy, and none of the five
programs I tried could do it.
Glad I did not pay big money for them.

What are the titles of the 5 movies?

DVDFab Decrypter in conjuction with VobBlanker has proven very useful.

Think you may be giving up too easily.

What are the names of the movies that you cannot copy.

I am unaware of any movie to date than AnyDVD cannot handle.

It is possible that you may have faulty originals.

The two DVs I could not copy were "War of the Worlds" and "Only Fools
and Horses". The 5 programs I tried after Shrink were DVD Fab (platinum and gold), DVD Cloner, Icopydvds2, AoA DVD Ripper and AnyDVD. I am backing up my entire DVD collection, and Shrink has been excellent in more than 99% of tries. I think it is not being updated, so I decided to buy another program, but so far I am not impressed with the ones I tried.

War of the Worlds is a easy puppy - just rolls over and wants to play.

Not familiar with your second movie.

AnyDvd will handle almost all movies - are you using the latest updates? Think its up to Version 5.8.4.1 and there is a later Beta version.

You may have faualty/damaged originals.

Alternative method is to use DVD Decrypter in ISO read mode and use DVD Shrink to open Image file.

Nothing out yet that cannot be copied.

Uninstall DVD43, when you downloaded AnyDVD it should have done this for you, if you don't have DVDFab Decrypter and VobBlanker get them now. You must uninstall any previous versions from your puter for the current update to take. Rip the movie to your HDD with DVDFab, run the resulting files through VobBlanker, then transcode the files with DVD Shrink using DVD Shrink and burn with your favorite burn engine.

DVDFab Decrypter: http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm
VobBlanker: http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/vobblanker.htm
Imgburn: http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download

All the above programs are free and fairly easy to use. All you need to do with DVDFab is supply it with a source and a target and hit start, the same with VobBlanker and hit process. Open the files created by VobBlanker in DVD Shrink to remove unwanted audio tracks and subtitles, then burn the ISO image file that DVD Shrink created with Imgburn.
