you're SHOUTING ie CAPS LOCK is stuck on. Pls see Forum Rules in my sig.

As to the logfile, the first part is missing, ie i need the missing bit from via the preceding section divider which looks like this "====== *** Nero-Burning Rom, History File *** ======" until the section you pasted.

At the moment i can see you are using atrocious quality discs , ie 'AML'

hi, i've removed your serial number..
Quote:
Nero API version: 6.6.0.8
- Nero's old, latest 6.x version is 6.6.0.18, download "update package 1" from here - http://ww2.nero.com/enu/nero-up.php
Quote:
Recorder: <Slimtype DVDRW SOSW-852S>Version: PRS9
- oh no not this drive again!!, i got stuck trying to help out with this model drive once before here, back in August -
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/2/214104

so i'll copy/paste some of my comments from there and edit accordingly -

- i homed in on the firmware before i looked down the log and saw the 'AML' media (shudders). Anyway, after finding some info on the possible firmware versions, i gave up trying to figure it out -

LiteOn SOSW-852S
? P9S2 - stock (2004/06/24) (no +R DL)
? PS01 - stock (2004/06/28)
? PSF2 - stock (2004/06/28) (no +R DL)
? PRS7 - stock (2004/07/14) (no +R DL)
? PCS3 - stock (2004/08/13)
? PSX1 - stock (2004/09/21)
? PST3 - stock (2004/10/15)
? PRS9 - stock (2004/10/19)
? 6S07 - stock (2004/10/21) (6x max.)
? P3S4 - stock (2004/11/22)
? PSX3 - stock (2004/12/30)

Sony DW-D56A (rebadged LiteOn SOSW-852S)
? PYS1 - stock (2004/09/24)
? PDS3/PDS6/PDS7 - stock (2005/07/01) (Dell OEM)
? PFS1/PFS2/PFS3 - stock (2005/05/27) (Vaio OEM) (newer than PDS7)

- i certainly wouldn't even even bother trying to figure out which one might be the newest. Buy better blank discs, and avoid that 'AML' stuff like the plague.. there's no pattern in the naming convention in the firmware choices, other than they don't make sense :)
Quote:
Physical memory : 238MB (244144kB)
Free physical memory: 50MB (51852kB)
Memory in use : 78 %
- 512MB is what i consider the minimum for dvd work. you should get more memory, and for now you're gonna have to dig deep to close down as much as you can to free up more memory
Quote:
Last possible write address on media: 2295103 (510:01.28, 4482MB)
Last address to be written: 2286111 (508:01.36, 4465MB)
- 4465MB is burning too close to outer edge of discs. If you use DVD Shrink, set target size to 4300MB in Shrink's preferences thus avoiding outer edge and not sacrificing much space

Looks to me like creaky summed it up pretty good.

Your drive definately does not like the current media.

The greatest obsitcal that I see is your lack of sufficient ram. Windows XP can require up to 128mb of ram just to run the OS which would leave you with 128mb of ram to run the programs. Your drive will require up to 128mb of ram to run which would leave almost nothing left to run the burning program.

A ram upgrade is in order and I would recommend a gig at minimum.

Cheers.
