I have followed a guide to convert from dvd to avi. The file is created fine and it plays everything fine. The only issue I am having is that when I am watching the avi file, I can not fast forward, so I have to watch the entire thing. I have heard that is an issue with the avi not getting index. I am missing a step and is there anyway to fix this?

Typically, AVIs will look forward okay ie. scan ahead into the AVI...
They will, however, not be happy to go backwards :^(
For playback in WMP for example, you can jump ahead (with the little progress-bar at the bottom) but, to go backwards is a pain.
