Hello,
I have recently copied Gosford Park onto drive c: of my computer. I followed instructions and used re author to only copy main film (no extras or menus etc.) What I don't understand is why when I look on c: after copying is complete the film seems to have been split up into sections, four or five smaller of about the same size and one much larger. Why does the film not just copy in one section. I accessed the film on hard drive by going into c: and clicking on the Gosford Park icon and was given a choice between audio and video. I chose video and this is when I saw the above mentioned sections as icons, they don't even seem to be in order. When one is clicked it starts that "chapter" and then stops at the end.
When burning to disc does it sort itself out because one ,in effect, just selects the main Gosford Park icon on c:
Hope this makes sense, any advice welcome. James
A DVD is comprised of a multitude of files. When you rip in file mode it takes all the files and puts them on the hard drive. The main title is comprised of a number of these files, but not all of them. When you select the main title only the files associated with the main title are selected. The others remain on the hard drive, well they all do, but are not utilized. Yes you can play them individually by selecting individual VOBs.
Thanks for your answer but what I really need to know is how I copy/play the film in one go without having to keep starting individual chapters. Surely there is a way to be able to do this without any breaks. Ideally what I want to do is copy the main title so that it plays in one go afterwards. Just like a normal film. James
Hello again,
Thankyou for your advice about instructions for DVD Decrypter and shrink, incredibly user friendly and easy to follow. I would recommend to any "newbie". I have a few questions though i hope you can answer.
1> After using decrypter you suggest putting blank DVD in the DVD drive ready for burning. Does this mean that it burns automatically when Shrink is finished its encoding or are you just suggesting doing so so that one doesn't forget? If the first does it automatically tell my burning software or does it have its own?
2> In part 20 you suggest using speed 4X. Is that the speed it burns to the hard drive or the eventual speed of burning to a DVD.If the latter does this override any settings ones burner is on at that moment? Also is 4x because of better reproduction?
3> You say that once settings are made one can keep them the same for future backing up.Is the F and Write in Decrypter under mode the only thing one needs to change every time?
4>Although I haven't any blank DVD's here at the moment I experimented with the instructions(again very straight forward)and after decrypting I moved onto shrink. When the encoding preview box was running it seemed a bit slow, almost slow motion and indicated it would take about 35 mins. Is this normal?
5>Obviously the film saves on the hard drive after Decrypter but does the shrink version afterwards save on top of it(in its place?)
6> I asked before about separate chapters when the film saved on hard drive. Do these chapters or files automatically join up to make one complete film with no breaks when it is burnt onto DVd ?
I would appreciate any help you can give and thanks again forlink to your instructions. James
Hi again,
One more thing. If I eventually want to download a video from the computer hard drive to a memory card in a PSP is it the film folder saved in "DVD work", as described in your instructions, or the ISO file created at the end of the process.Which is the best in quality etc and the ultimate copy
Thanks again. James
