DVD shrink starts to encode the film. But, then stops with this error message. Can anyone shed any light on this problem??

Encryption problem.

Rip to hard drive first with DVDFab decrypter: http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm

Then use Shrink to reauthor and your burn program.

Cheers

hey all,

i just tried the method described above with dvdfabdecrypter, and when i open the file in dvdshrink i get the following error:

invalid data in file: d:\dvd\video_ts\vts_04_1.vob

i am trying to backup pitch black. my system is a sony vaio rx670, pent 1.8, 80 gig hd, win xp, sony dru-700a dvd burner.

thanks for any help or suggestions!!!

***also, when i installed the dvdfab, it said that the dma? memory was not enabled and gave me the option of enabling it...which i did. could that be part of the problem?

You definately want the DMA enabled, otherwise you will be real slow.

I did pitch black about a month ago with AnyDVD and DVDShrink.

Make sure you have the latest DVDFab version from the above link.

You should not have trouble with this movie.

thanks for the fast reply, this is why i love these forums. there are a lot of great people willing to help out. thanks again!!

Do this procedure next time you try.

Activate AnyDVD. Put the DVD into the reader and wait for the fox head to flash pale and then back to dark red. (Fox head is in the task tray)

Now open DVDShrink. Locate the drive where your dvd is and click open disc. Reauthor if desired, click backup. When finished burn with your burning program.

This is how I did it for a long while, but felt it took too long and was too cpu intensive, so I went back to ripping to HD first with DVDDecrypter and then shrinking and burning.

It was easier on my system.

Cheers.

I found a work around for Shrink. When getting the message, "Invalid DVD navigation Structure". Instead of cliking on "open disk" - Click right away on "re-author". Go to the "my computer" drop down list and choose
your DVD player/reader. Do what you want from there and it should work.
