I'm using WinAVI to convert divx to dvd.
When I use ffdshow as codec the movie stutters.
When I use xvid everything is fine.
But I like to use ffdshow because the easiness with the subs.
I already tried with Vobsub but it doesn't work that great.
Is there a setting I have to change in ffdshow to resolve this stuttering?
Could it be the postprocessing?

But installing the K-lite codec pack is like overloading your pc with codecs isn't it?

I installed all other codecs and still it has problems.
I saw that FFDShow is included with k-lite.
I think I'm gonna use the latest XviD which worked and try to configure DirectVobsub so that the subs are in the right place.

I experience the same problem off and on with winavi version 7.1 but it would fix itself after restarting my pc so I went back to using version 6.3 which was the most stable version I'd used and have no problems anymore. I don't think the problem is in FFDShow but a bug in the winavi software itself as every new version has worked out an old problem but seems to end up with a new one.

I tried with WinAVI 6.3 but the same problem persists.
Maybe returning to a previous version of FFDShow should solve my problem.
Which version is considered to be the best FFDShow version?

uninstall codecs then install k-lite

Yes off course.
There was only FFDShow installed anyway.
Maybe installing K-lite without FFDShow.
But first I'm going to try the 20041012 FFDShow alpha.
The latest stable is 20020617.
I'll try and lett you know later.

I tried with the 2004 alpha version but the same problem persists.
And now even with the final release of XviD.
Is there another program that works like WinAVI and if possible as fast as WinAVI?

I alternate between winavi and vso. It's not as fast but it is reliable.

It's not meant for backup but for one-time viewing.
I'll try it anyway.
I'll let you know the results.

I'm trying VSO at the moment.
It isn't really that fast.
WinAVI is really the fastest.
But VSO is easy to use.

I have the same stuttering as with WinAVI.
Strange.
Could it be the antivirus?

Antivirus is a possibility. Could be a case of another program running in the background that's conflicting with your conversion program.

But I did a fresh install, installed the drivers and tested WinAVi imediatelly. Maybe it could be because of the two soundcards or the SW IDE driver of NVIDIA?
What do you think?

I'm going to try WinAVI on my other PC as soon as I get home.
If that doesn't work I'm going to use DIKO.
I'm at work during the day so if I start the program before I leave, it should be done long before I get back.
I'm even thinking of buying the GOLD version so I can use the batch.
Anyway you'll hear soon from me.
