I have a NEC 3550A burner and I want to booktype my DVD+R media to DVD-ROM. I burn with DVD Decrypter. Decrypter will not let me change the booktype on my +R media, when I try it tells me operation failed. Is it true that my drive with it's latest firmware version installed (1.05), will only change the bitsetting of +R DL media? If so, is there anywhere i can get a modified version of this firmware that will let me booktype DVD+R's?

Also, second question. I set the write speed in Decrypter to 4x and I also verify before the write. I notice that when it goes through it's verify it goes at 4x, but when it's done and it actually starts to burn the image it goes at a much faster speed, usually around 10x. Is this okay? Will it effect quality? Can I make the entire process go at 4x? I am using Sony DVD+R media.

Thanks in advance for any help.

hi

try booktyping with imgburn made by the same guy who made DVD Decrypter http://www.imgburn.com maybe better?

yes fast speed can result in bad play back

i never verify just burn and once i burn first at 4x after install it stays at 4x

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

hey 9mmruger1 or anyone else.

when I try to download the modified firmware in the link you provided it always freezes up. does anybody have another site that I can go to where I can get modified firmware that lets me change the bitsetting for DVD+R media through decrypter on my nec 3550a burner.

thanks in advance!

I got it direct from liggy and dee's website. Do a google. I downloaded it and it was a breeze to install. Flashed without a hitch.

Here is their website. http://liggydee.cdfreaks.com/page/

Select the model on the left and it will display the available firmware.

RPC1 version makes it region free.
