I don't want to sound like a smart ass but if you don't want to burn any more coasters don't buy any more Memosux media. I would take them back to the store, tell the clerk they suck and demand your money back. Then buy yourself some Verbatim dl, burn with Decrypter or ImgBurn at 2.4x, then you'll be very happy.

That's a good price. I heard BestBuy is going to have another $19.99 sale soon.

Also, I suggest you use Decrypter to burn after ISO read. You should also try ImgBurn, too.

Good luck.

Hey johnny you can get free new memorex DL's by going to their website and filling out the form they will then send you replacements. Sometimes you have to send back the messed up ones sometimes not. Takes about 2 weeks you can also call them on the phone that usually works the best.

I have close to 300 DL blanks left and I've burned over 400 in the last year. I've only been using Verbatim DL discs and left the experimenting with other DL brands to friends of mine. According to them and from what they've showed me, DL verbs give the best results(so far). Even though I've had Nero(first program to support dual layer burning), I use Decrypter to rip and for the last couple of months ImgBurn for my DL backups. Once Taiyo Yuden DL discs are readily available, I will consider using those.

@wolf

ur gonna be waiting for a LONG time for the TY DLs..as i actually asked my rep. about them and they are not even on Taiyo Yudens' future product list :(

that might change in the future, but it's not presently even considered, unfortunately~ :)

docTY~

p.s. you got WAYYY more burned Verb DLs than i do, like 4x more...but i have MUCH more left than u..hehe...i got about 900 left, only chipped off a tiny bit of my stack so far...

i will have to agree they are the BEST DL on the market TODAY~ :)

Holy crap 900+ DL disks, a part of my anatomy is getting hard. Cost per disk? Most us can only get $2 per disk when on sale.

hehe :) and what part of your anatomy would that be? hehe...

by the way, i'd like to thank the 3 people on here that have gotten me well over 40 packs combined...you guys know who you are...thank you for your dedication and for helping me out...the check is already in the mail... :)

also, my ORIGINAL/STORE BOUGHT collection is coming in at around 3,000 now and i have a dedicated room in my house...

some people collect stamps, some people collect baseball cards, some people collect CDs that puts MY DVD collection to shame!; i just collect dvds, from every genre, from around the world...we all have our own hobbies.

I never make back ups for others too. If people want to back up, then they can do it themselves. You are only asking for trouble. I have a huge movie collection, but they are all in their original cases & I just watch my back ups.

Contrary to what people may think, I would say nearly all members have the same outlook. There will be one or two who do it. In every group there will be a couple of bad 'uns. That is inevitable.

Some people assume that we are in it for a fast buck. Not so! Takes up way too much compute time, & there are compatibility issues with other peoples standalones. I do not want, or need the hassle, from the law, or boneheads saying "It doesn't work in my player!"

It is just not worth it.

Wow 3000+ movies impressive. I might have 1000 and im told im insane by family members. LOL they still watch TV on a 42 inch tube! Why do you need to have people purchase disks for you? Are there limits where you live. Here I can buy as many at best buy and circuit city as they have and even I know most of the store people put some back for themselves which means I can have theirs too if I complain enough. Try this, if your buddies at best buy (or insert favorite name of your store here) let you know your DL disks are going on sale hide all of them the night before in the appliance section I use the washing machines of the worst brand. For black friday I hid an entire computer in the dryer and various other components in the washing machine while all the momo's got up at 1am to stand in the freezing long line I strolled in after a late breakfast and purchased my special bargins which of course are controlled by the computer for price adjustments and dont need their price stickers changed. To bribe any store employee simply bring him or her a 6 pack of beer or make a deal to purchase them things they cannot buy like black friday items.

LOL

i agree with u pulsar~ :) congrats on the addict status again~ no need for the added headache from people, my backups are for MY PERSONAL enjoyment as well~

@megabyte

LOL...haven't thought of hiding stuff in the dryer...that's a new one to me, but, if it works for ya, congrats to u~~:)
reason i couldn't obtain them locally for me is NOT due to "limits" imposed by said stores, it was a mere fact of supply and demand and i got there too late and everything was already sold out locally...might take into consideration your idea of "hiding" inventory...but, i don't have that much time to go to stores twice for a devious plan...but, it's a good idea~ :)

Alot of stores let you purchase sale items with rainchecks like best buy and circuit city. There also is no limit on quantities. I tried very hard to get some black friday items but no luck. If you absolutely have to have an item they have in stock but no longer on special price throw a temper tantrum. Its extreame but you will win if they have it in stock. No store wants you to get arrested and be on the nightly news for a simple price reduction. Most stores will make you happy no matter what. My special trick is to mis read the sale price in the advertisement this works well for me. Im good at mistaking one computer usually a $3000 one for a $1000 one. Like I said its extreame but if you really want it just complain LOUDLY and you will win. This also works in hotels and resturants. These days im more mellow but in my college days I didnt pay for anything.

Ok, the big question is which format to use....
DVD-R DL or DVD+R DL

Sorry,
I should have shared some background. As the title describes, I am a "Newbie".
I'm using a Sony 810. (Just got it)It will burn both formats. I have been burning standard DVD's (Sony 610) for several years now and found that the DVD-R's were more compatable in more players.

Well if your burner handles both then get either one. I buy them only on sale as DL's are still way to expensive. Some people here say memorex makes crappy disks. I have found this to also be true. But they have a great returns department and will send you replacements. If you buy stock in memorox they will also send you samples if you ask for them.
