i have backed up my DVDs, at first they were great then gradually when i watched it on the tv. it skipped parts, like it was scratched. i took the DVD out to see if it was scratched, but it wasnt it was new. can anyone tell me if this is a DVD brand/type, my backup programs (DVDfab Decrypter and DVD shrink), i am pretty sure it isnt my computer, because i just got it. or can it be something else? if anyone here knows what it is, can you please help me? thanks
Hello and welcome to Afterdawn.
First off what kind of media are you using??
What are your computer spec??
And finally when you were burning the disc were you running any other apps??
You see burning uses a lot of CPU power and running anything thing else in the background that doesn't have anything to do with the burn will affect the disc performance. This includes screensavers, surfing the internet and anti-virus programs.
media as in?ummm they are VIDEO_TS and i use hp DVD+R 8x...computer: microsoft windows xp home edition, hp intel processor. and yes i was doing other things in the backround. so i shouldnt surf the net, watch tv, and i should shut off my screensaver. does that count the automatic standby? oh yeah thanks for your help ^_^
@sOo.... welcome......... you got good advise from PirateDan. Shut off everything while you are burning DVDs. Use good media, Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, Sony, Maxell, to name a few. By using the best media (and it cost the same as using bad media--like Memosux!)you can avoid pixialtions, skipping, freezing and keep the quality for longevity! Burn your disks at have the speed of the disk that is rated! So if you have 8x disks burn at 4x! This will also ensure the quality of the burn and you shouldn't have any problems like you are having. Check out the DVD media Guide: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm this will tell you if your disk is of quality! use a program like DVDInfo Pro, DVDIdentifier to find the manufacturer ID. You can check out the Software tab on top of this page to download these programs! By doing these things should stop the pixilations, freezing, skipping and your disks will last a long time!
