OK.. i ran across this and was wondering if anyone has seen anything hard on this?

One speaker (Michael Pachter of Wedbush Morgan Securities) at the "Positioning for Profitability in the Video Game Economy" conference we attended yesterday let on that he had heard that Sony is working on a flavor of the PSP that includes an internal, 50-gigabyte hard drive. A prototype of the new portable might be out by year-end, but mass production of the new device probably would not happen until next year, he said. Could this mobile multimedia device viably challenge the iPod?

@reader34 That is only currently. I have read in many places that Sony themselves plans to release the next generation of psp with a built in hard drive. I am sure if Sony themselves release it, it should be able to recognise that capacity.

Note to people. Sony are releasing a 4GB memory stick pro duo and a 8GB one. so this stuff about the psp not reading over 4GB is rubbish oh and there is a 2.5" hard drive enclosure coming out for it so 50gigabytes probally will be on the way.
