So....for instance, in that list there are 3 varieties of +R 8x (none of which i'd say are any good really)

and here...all i'd say where any good are the MCC coded ones -

The trouble is, you wouldn't know which ones you're gonna get, just buy picking up a pack of Memorex. And that's part of the reason why so many people have problems with them, they see the name Memorex, associate it with quality cassettes (for instance) in the dim distant past etc etc, and it's the luck of the draw as to what disc manufacturer actually made them. Hence why i won't buy Memorex, HP, TDK, Imation etc etc etc. There are ways with some companies discs, to work out which ones you're gonna get, ie what sort of tubs they're in, are they -R, what speed are particular discs etc etc but most people on the street just haven't got that knowledge and just don't care about all that. I have feet in both camps, i need to have knowledge of media, but i just want media to work, and work consistently and for good :)

I don't think cmags makes their cases.
I wouldn't even think about buying their burners.
I do have a 128 mb jump drive that has memosux on it.It's all right.Hasn't crashed on me, YET!

@gur, saugmon, creaky - It was definitely a doozy. I couldn't believe someone would actually say things like that to a person they probably don't even know. I can't remember the last time I heard something that explicit and I wouldn't dare to even repeat such things. Ive never had any problems with using memorex disc...I get a solid burn at 16x using a maddog dvd burner..ill keep buying them as long as the price is right. Best Buy had a sell on a 25pack 16x for $7.99...you cant beat that anywhere..works for me

i beg to differ on the price you found.
best buy sells (off and on) either verbatim 16x +or- 50 packs for 7.99, but most of the time they are 14.99, so are the fuji and sony.
plus, you'll find office depot does the same thing.
so when you say the price is right, take a moment, then re-read what i posted.. plus, just look here...

Memorex drives are ok. They are all rebadges of descent manufactures. Too damn bad we can't say the same about their dvd media.

well, this all through me - I have been using memorex for 3 years now and found it worked great for my dvd copies - if they are so bad what does one reccomend ?? I found a few cheaper brands that sucked.

To be honest with you, it all boils down to personal choice. If this brand has been working for you then continue to use it. Most of the people here use TY, Sony, Verbatim, and Maxwell.

thanks for the suggestions, I have tried sony and it won't copy some encrypted dvd's neither with a sony burner - some maxell left the movie pixelly and as yet I have gone through over 400 and all came out good with memorex... strange how one has good luck with different types of media.
