i haven't really tried it but can you do that i do not have a dvd -rw though

To burn DVD's you need a DVD burner a CD-R burner wont work.

I just got an LG External Super Multi DVD Rewriter Model GSA-2166D for christmas.

It burns just about everything including labels, it has Light Scribe.
