Greetings all,

Just recently, many of my backups play poorly.

Stuttering, stopping, and square blocks appear on the screen intermittantly.

Been burning since DVDXcopy.

Now using:
AnyDVD 5.7.2.1
DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0
DVD Shrink 3.2
Alcohol 120%
Verbatims + media

Will burning at a slower speed possibly help?

Your media should be fine...verbatims are considered to be good media. Burn speed should not exceed 4X, and your target size should be set to 4300 via DVD Shrink. Also try the Deep Analysis and AEC control found in DVD Shrink...they can smooth out some of those pixellated portions of the movie.

I have solved the problem.
AnyDVD is the culprit (unfortunately).
Confirmed with several burns.
When I don't use AnyDVD (not running in the background) burns are flawless.
Very disappointed that I paid for it.

I always keep AnyDVD disabled until the need arises. DVD Shrink will rip through majority of originals with no help from AnyDVD or DVD43.

1 less background program running and I know which new releases that DVD Shrink can't handle alone by keeping it shut down.

4x burn speed is par,but I have been finding out that those newer +16x verbs scan way better at the 8x and 12x speed. Less errors.
2.4x burns are a big no-no on my benq 1640. Too many read errors, giving me crc errors when I try to re-rip them.

Strat1969:
How fast are those blank verbs?
What's your burner brand name and model#?

5.8.3.1 is the latest update for AnyDVD that I know of. You may want to try updating it. Maybe a bug that is in your older version?

I've never had any issues with AnyDVD, as Saugmon says don't use it unless you need it...the best money I've spent. You may have a conflict elsewhere on you system that is causing the problem.

If you ever had DVD43 installed conflict can happen.

Your outdated version of AnyDVD is known to have some problems with your outdated shrink program. The latest AnyDVD update may fix it.
