Please, if u know tell me what could be wrong with my dvd-recorder. I hope it's suitable, the thread for this forum.
So it burns the dvd, but when I try to copy some data from it, almost all of it seems ruined. It stops from copying at a certain point with the no reading error. There are 10-14 dvd's by now that I burned until now with the same burned succesfully end. All kind of products. The problem is that my warranty guy said it's working fine. Another tehnician said it's working well. So what's the problem. Windows or smth else?
Thanks for reading my thread.

Hi View_ro

Calm down, you sound stressed... Do these steps first.

1. Check the firmware on your burner.

2. Is your burner in DMA mode?

3. How much of your HDD have you got available?

4. What software are you using?

5. What media code have you got in that media are you using?

Come back with those and i'll see what i can do to help you. Don't worry, that sounds like a setup problem from here...

If it ain't broken it doesn't need fixing...

1. the firmware is Teac
2. DMA mode i don't know
3. there is space on the hard drive
4. I'm using Nero 7
5. media code i don't know

Also, I'm burning data, copies of AVI files and music in iso mode. It worked fine before. And it ejects at the end.
Somebody found an update for the dvd's driver. It was the same Teac version for the driver as for the burner. It updated succesfully. I thought it would be good, but it seems not. After that, I changed my HDD, reinst. the win without the update of the dvd. The problem appeared somewhere between.
Thanks guys for the support.

Hi View_ro

The firmware could very well be the problem.

Those answers are a bit vague mate, but since you're running Nero, can you bring us a log? Everything will be there. I'll get hold of a pro to have a look at it.

Miggs.

Yes, if possible copy and paste a burn log for examination.

You will find it: C:/Program Files/Ahead/Nero/Nero History

I was wrong. It's Nero 6 Ultra, and I didn't find the Nero History folder.
Also, the DMA is on.
I don't know how to give you a burning report.
I just remember that I burned the dvd's, it said succesfully..., but on the verification it was full of errors. The buffer was fine. The dvd's were different. I don't know. Maybe the buffer drops quiqly from time to time...
It's just that I couldn't afford to throw the burner away. It passed the warranty period already.

i'm off to the land of nod now, but one of the good ppl will no doubt sort you out... let's have LAST section of your Nero log which lives in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log but DO NOT post your serial number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar.

You can differentiate sections via this section divider "====== *** Nero-Burning Rom, History File *** ======"

Due to the lenght of the file, I skiped most of the errors of the last burning attempt. I appreciate your effort. Thanks again.

Hi mate.

I'm not he best reading these logs, but i can tell you that your Nero is outdated, this is the most recent one: 6.6.0.18

I coudn't see your firmware information anywhere on that logfile, but the most updated version for the TEAC DV-W58G-A is: U4S7
You can get it here:

ftp://ftp.teac.co.jp/pub/dspd/download/firmware/dvdrw/FWUPDVW58GA01.EXE

Here's the instructions, read them carefully:

http://www.teac.co.jp/dspd/download/firmware/dv-w58ga/fwcdrome.html

The Media is a bit dodgy to say the least: INFOME R30

I can't see no info on memory usage but i'm sure Creaky will be able to go deeper on it.

From here i would say it's a media problem, mate.

a. Right. Ok.
Anyway, I updated the driver and I tried to burn another dvd. I think I should throw the damn thing away. So, it burned succesfully, it made the verification - no error, but when i try to copy smth from the dvd to the hdd it says to any single file - reading error / skip-cancel. I.... damn. Everybody said to me there's nothing wrong with it although I guess there are 20 ruined dvd's already. Here's the last log:

I would say you're burning a bit close to the edge, keep it below 4300, adjust it with DVD Shrink.

I know you said you have enough room in your pc, but can you tell us the percentage of free space vs used space?

Let's recapitulate here. When you try to copy something from your just-burned DVD to the HDD, it stops... But, does it work in the first place? Can you open the files and use'em off the disc just after you have burned them?

Hi Creaky,

Ever heard of this ABSOLUTELY FANFREAKINTASTIC UMBELIEVABLY GOOD QUALITY MEDIA before?

There's quite a bit of intel missing from that isn't it? I compared it with my one of my logs, and there seems to have a lot more information on it than these...

Media, Media, media all the way is the problem here! You need some good blank discs.

I am still on Nero 6, I tried 7, but did not like how it worked.

permiggs, yes it starts copying and stops at a certain point with the error. One or two files/ burned dvd - copied, but the rest, say 5, didn't. I can see all the burned files and indeed, I can open them.... I guess they would crack at the same point where it brings up the error when I try to copy it. I will test one.
There's not a lot of disk space on the drive (around 2GB free).
The media is called Omega, 4,7GB, +R. But I used another 3 or 4 different firmwares. All bought from a local shop. But I live in Romania. Miles away from any good quality product.
Creaky, do you mean the part where I said "this is the additional information from the start of the log file: " in the first log posted?
thanks guys
Do you think it is the space problem?

You ain't that far away from top quality footy players... Take Drogba back! Bring MUTU!

...

I'm sure you can find a couple of Verb's in Romania... That IS the
main thing here, i guess...

Also if you have only 2 Gb free... That could be an issue as well. That means you can't do a Temp.

Another thing: RAM. Can you tell us what you have there?

I have the feeling your system is quite weak...

yes, creaky, great link u gave me. It would be great to be just a media problem. It would explain it. But so many dvd's and so many firmwares seemed just not probably, that's why I thought my burner cracked. I don't know. ...Again, thanks guys, you saved me a lot of time and trouble.

the RAM is 500 DDR. I'll buy Verb's from now on. Those Omega ones were just twice cheaper.
:)) Great to hear Mutu is still appreciated. (They didn't even included him in the latest FIFA game. They gave us Hagi though, that's really nice)
