I am trying to find a software that will import various file types [like .avi, .wmv, .***] and then be able to write them to dvd. i would also like the software to be able to produce an interactive menu.

is there something like this available? hope someone can help.

TIA.

you could do this with lots of applications by manually converting the files yourself or you can get hold of one application which does it all for you.

I've used Ulead DVD studio or media studio and it imports different file types and you can create a menu and add custom buttons etc and different level menu's

my criticism would be that it randomly has problems converting some avi's depending on hte codecs and its slightly buggy (or was .. may be better now) and crashes now and then so I'd advise regular saving of your profile while you get ready to compile the image.

it can then export direct to disk or to folders for burning manually etc...

I'm sure there are loads of others which do it from companies like pinacle etc

cheers

Welcome Apex. I'd supply you with the links to your question. However, they are all within eye-shot. Look right beneath your current thread. There are about 3-4 different threads with everything you are looking for. You should be able to gain all the info you need through them. You've got quite a few different options available to you and each thread provides you with a tid-bit of info on how to use them. Good luck senior'

Just to add to what nico1977 said, as far as all-in-one programs go, Ulead has an advantage over most because it has a high quality MPEG encoder (MainConcept) built in. Personally I prefer a multiple application approach (encode video with CCE, encode audio with TMPGEnc AC-3 Encoder, Author DVD with DVD-Lab Pro) but many people consider that too complicated to be worth the time to learn.
