Hey all, well I just got a new BenQ external dvd burner for my laptop. I can burn the dvds with no problem and they are the dvds (type -R). However they will not play on my Dvd player. First of all they DO play on my computer. I have a PS2 without a modchip and I know it will not work there so i was ok with that. I also have a portable dvd player with a 7inch screen. This player will also not play the dvds. Since my venture portable dvd player is low end could that also be the problem? I don't want to go out and buy a $100 dvd player and the problem still happen. I also have yet to try it on any high end dvd player of my friend's. O also im burning it with nero(which is not the problem) and i dont use menus(meaning it should just start the movie)Well thanks all.

you need to convert the .AVI to mpeg2.use DivXtoDVD to convert AVI to mpeg2 and i would burn at 4x if my DVD-R was 8x

What media are you using to burn to and did you try it as a full backup?

If you see your player is compatable with DVD-R, then let us know what media you are using?
