Here is a scan that I did of a backup of Predator 2 tonight burned at 6x

I was wondering if you could assist me in understanding what I am looking for in the graphs. I got a 97.1 quality, but I don't understand what I am looking at.

Appreciate your time and effort.

Thank you

9mm

More of a comment than anything. My YudenT02 get a 97 quality and 5 on Max PIF as well(On a Benq 1640). Nice to see the consistency. Hands down the best and most consistent media I scan.

I guess what I am trying to understand is what happened to the scan from about the 1 3/4 gb point to the 3 3/4gb point. What would cause the higher readings in this area?

Does that make sense?

Here is one of Eight Legged Freaks.

Not too good.

This was burned on the LG, what could have happened?

Must be a variation in dye towards the outside of the disc... The LG does better than that on the Yudens (as I am sure you already know)... I have the 5163D (external version of the 4163B). Maybe just a couple of "bad" discs in the spindle. Out of curiousity, are these discs the first few or last few in the spindle?

@teflonmyk

These discs are #28 and 29 in a 50pk spindle.

I will be trying a couple more burns this weekend and check the results as soon as their finished.

Do you think that I should get better results with the LG burner or the NEC burner?

Not sure on that one! I have the LG 5163D, a Pioneer 109, and a LiteOn 1693SX... Probably should be neck and neck on quality media like TY, though...

@9mmruger1,
I own several LG Burners & I am willing to bet you that your scans will be better with a GSA-4163B, or a GSA-4167B drive with the latest firmware. LG makes Excellent drives! I have never had any trouble out of any of my drives, both readers & writers. They just work very well, and are "Bulletproof". They also have some very good tech support people too. If you ever need them. My latest additions are 2 GSA-4167B Retail Drives, Firmware DL12. These babies rip faster & write with better results than their predecessor GSA-4163B. Which is also a Top Notch Drive!
Edited for a typo. Darn it!

Use The Best Media for The Best Burns! TYs, Verbs,(Made in Taiwan) Sony MIJs (YUDEN000 T02), Sony Made in Taiwan DVD+R 16x, Maxell MIJ, RITEK G05.

I plan on doing a burn on each of the drives first of the week so I will report the scans. I played the Eight Legged Freaks movie this afternoon and it played absolutely fine. Just puzzleing what would make it go haywire at the end of the burn like that.

I was not multitasking.

The eight L F burn was on the LG.

hmm...while i don't own an LG drive, teflonmyk and i burn pretty much the same way...i too have the pioneer dvr-109 (buffalo firmware) and the Liteon 1693S that he has too~ :)

on these 8x YUDEN000T02s, i also burn them @8x..with terrific results on both these drives i DO own...quality score in the 97-98 range consistently...

while i don't doubt the LG drives are great drives, i just don't have any experience with them...don't know what else to add regarding the scans on either 9mmruger1, it would seem to me that by now u are pretty well versed in the burning game and multitasking is not even an issue...possible "bad discs" within the 50 pack? perhaps...possible factors during the scan that contributed to scores? maybe...

if it plays back fine, no need to worry about it too much, i have always regarded disc quality scans as a "guideline"...i don't put that much WEIGHT on the results personally, but that's just me~ :)

u got some good media, good burners...if it is flawless on playback...don't sweat it~

Thanks for that Doc, I was wondering about the burn speed as the LG burn was done a 4x and the NEC burn was done at 6x. The 6x burn was much better quality scan wise. I think I will give the LG a 6 or 8 x burn on Monday to see what transpires.

Will post the results.

Thanks again all!
