Got an old time radio distro set today in the mail. Since I don't need to burn a set for someone else I'll send these along to the next fellow under me after I copy the 4 discs to my hard drive....

What CMC media code are they using, some are not really that bad.

I'll bet they code as CMC-Mag-E01. Staples also use Moser Bauer on some of their +8x brand media.MBIPG101-R1 to be exact-made in India.A buddy of mine gave me 5 of those moser bauer discs because he had major trouble with them on his NEC 1100A.

I've got no burn issues with cmags, just playback issues and some very picky players.

I stay away from staples brand. The only store brand media I recommend is Office Depot's 8x media. All made by ritek. The +16x's are coding as Ricohs. Very good media, and 20 cents each during special sales.

Yep they sure did....

Would I ever burn CMC CDR or DVD plus or minus R media? Nope, not ever!

I wouldn't pay but a couple bucks a spindle for those cmags. A buddy of mine gave me a spindle of 30 memosux +8x with that MID code. Would you believe he paid $15 for them at wally world? Staples had the 30 pack fuji tys across the street at staples the week before for $8.94!

Edit: Those benqs in ALAND's sig will have no trouble burning cmags!

I burned 2 spindles of Office Depot +16x. 50 for 50 on first spindle.Second spindle I ran into 3 burn errors on 2 of my benqs. After carefully inspecting those backups, there seemed to be a defect on those 3 and 3 more that I hadn't burned yet.It looked like a water spot inbetween the acrylic outer layer and the dye. Happen to be 6 in a row,ok after that. Here's actual media code according to dvdinfopro:

Your memorex are most likely made by the same manufacturer, maybe even the same batch!

I am quite fond of the Office Depot +8x riteks. The 50 packs were on sale-buy 1/get 2 free. Only 1 spindle of +8x left so they let me substitute 2 spindles of +16x for my freebies. Pretty good for 20 cents each during that sale! That's why I stay clear of the taiwanese maxell +8x's.Those are made by ritek-r03 as well and run 30 cents apiece when on sale.I'd pay 30 cents each for hitachi maxells.

I've burned a slew of ricohjpn-r01 in the +4x speed. These include: Maxell/sony/verbatim/ and all were very good on my benqs and tv recorder. I even have some TDK +2.4x rws that were made by ricohjpn. All very decent media, for the price.

I haven't found any ricohjpn-02 media so I don't know how they are. They'd have to be pretty good.

With the exception of those 6 bad discs, these ricohjpn-r03 seem to be decent. I'd have to rate them just under the Ritek-r03.
