Hey guys/gals,

Just curious if anyone knows much about ImgBurn? I've read through this forum and others that the continued development of DVD Decrypter has ceased & was wondering since ImgBurn has the look and feel of DVD Decrypter if it's not the same code?

I only ask because I can no longer use DVD Decrypter to rip files for DVDShrink ..... and found ImgBurn by using pgcedit while backing up DARK WATER. ImgBurn copied the files so shrink could do it's work .... works great thus far!

Thanks!

Thanks!

ImgBurn is the new and improved burn engine that was created by Lightning_UK. It is the same as DVD Decrypter without the ability to decrypt.

If you use DVD Decrypter to burn with, then this is the upgrade you should use.

You can also fool Shrink into opening ImgBurn instead of Decrypter if you like Shrink to burn automatically with Decrypter.

Lightning_UK is the author and creator of ImgBurn. He had to stay busy and since DVD Decrypter development ceased he made this program for us!

The only thing that ImgBurn can do is burn .iso files made by other programs. It cannot be used to read DVDs at all. It cannot read DVD-Video files (yet).

It is an excellent small burning program though. It is upgraded to handle DL media better than Decrypter and has a few other features as well.

I added a guide by jmet at my website that shows how to install ImgBurn in place of DVD Decrypter for Shrink's burn feature. This simply calls ImgBurn instead of Decrypter when Shrink is set to burn with Decrypter:

I have the guide here if you want to do this:

@HosMonkey

fasfrank has got you headed down the right path but I thought I would offer up DVDFab Decrypter. It steps in where DVD Decypter left off as far as the ripping goes (it is only a ripper) and works much the same as DVD Decrypter does in File mode. When it is done, you open the file in DVD Shrink just like you would if you were using DVD Decrypter to rip and then edit as needed. Once the encoding is finished use Imgburn to burn the ISO.

DVDFab Decrypter can be found here: DVDIdle.com/free.htm" class="korostus" target="_blank">http://www.DVDIdle.com/free.htm

Hi all

From reading here on AD, I have found out all I wanted to know about Imgburn as I know it is not a ripper as it only burns image files that are previously saved on the hard drive.

Yet, the one question that I would like to have answered is this:-

What advantage does Imgburn have over DVD Decrypter if I want to switch to using Imgburn to burn .ISO images of films to Dual-Layer discs? Shall I carry on using DVD Decrypter or shall I switch to Imgburn?

What does Imgburn do that DVD Decrypter doesn't when burning to Dual-Layer discs? - BTW - I have also read about re-naming the DVD Decrypter .exe file to Imgburn, or something like that...

What would this do, and to what advantage, and could someone please explain how to go about doing it in more detail if I would need to it for myself?

I look forward to any responses - all are welcome...

Thanks for your help.

Regards

You can find the changes to imgburn here: http://www.imgburn.com/

Here is a detailed guide for its use: http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=55424

I have personally changed the burn engine to imgburn so that DVDShrink will automatically open imgburn instead of DVDdecrypter to burn.

This is how I did it.

Open the program file for imgburn and copy the imgburn.exe file.

Open the program file for DVDdecrypter and paste the imgburn.exe file into it.

Select the DVDdecrypter.exe file and rename it something meaningful such as DVDdecrypter_Real.exe. Now select the imgburn.exe that you pasted into the DVDdecrypter program file and rename it DVDdecrypter.exe. You're done.

Now when DVDshrink opens dvddecrypter to burn with it will open the renamed imgburn.exe file.

This works great.

I have a shortcut on my desktop to the real DVDdecrypter so that I can open it to rip the files. Then I use DVDShrink to create my shrunk ISO and it automatically opens the imgburn to burn the file.

Simple and effective.

Cheers.

I'm using the same methods as 9mmRuger1. I kept Decrypter as well,

There are some improvements over DVD Decrypter when it comes to D/L media. Plus this program has support from the maker and should be updated occasionally.

The changelog for ImgBurn is here:

http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=changelog

You can see for yourself what improvements have been made.
