on the odd occasions when using dvd shrink i get a message come up have way through analysing the dvd saying "failed to read file "D:\" data error (cyclic redundancy check)".
is there anyway around this problem?
now i'm not into computer jargon just a basic user so any advice in learners lanuage please.

Since DVDShrink isn't being updated anymore, it can't cope with some of the newer encrytions.

Try using AnyDVD and you should have better luck.

If you get this message, it usually means that the file/DVD being read by your PC or software is corrupted or damaged, it could be dirty too - try cleaning the DVD.

It can also be caused by using cheap crappy media (CMC), or burning too fast, more than 8x is asking for trouble.

There are programs available which will try to fix the problem but it's easier to find another undamaged DVD to back up.

I've sometimes had that problem trying to back DVD's that I've had for a long time.
