Is this a new problem or one that has happened before? Are you multi-tasking? How much RAM and free HD space do you have?

DVDShrink is an incredibly CPU intensive program and will utilize most of the system resources to do its encoding thing. If you don't have an ample supply of RAM available it will sometimes give this message.

I had that same problem as the first user stated. Found out it was some new protection or something. I have 3 gigs of ram. And still get that error on some of the newer movies. So i just broke down and bought Clonedvd2.

@ brecken... it was ok, but did it for my son.

@ pulsar, i would assume virtual memory.. although mine never said that. i would think thay they are just multitasking while encoding is going.

simple fix.... set it and go drink a beer !!

I had to ask the question, but no-body has told him how to get round it yet. I will wait to see if he/she replies & tells us. Then I will tell them what to do!

Are you buyin'???

@geckoguy

As stated encoding is very CPU intensive, I've never run into this problem, but have read that rebooting and shutting down anything not vital to the PC before starting the process could be beneficial.

One of the movies that gave me that same problem was The Great Raid.

It would start out fine with dvd shrink. But i noticed that the ram would keep going up in dvd shrink. Did this every single time. I never multi-task while doing dvds.

Then i would get that out of mem error.

Edit: Pass some my way also

Does it say out of memory or out of virtual memory? How much memory does your PC have?

These questions are extremely relevant to solving your problem!

It just says out of memory. I have 3 gigs of ram installed. I took it to my friends house to try it and it did the same thing.

I heard lost of people have the same error while trying to use just dvdshrink. People where telling me to use vob blocker. Or something like that.

It was only the great raid giving me that problem

this was the error i was getting

out of memeory, not enough storage present to process this command

Given that you have 3 gigs of ram I would assume that you have a large HDD with plenty of room on it for the backup? That error, I believe, is due to not enough room on the target drive.

I know i have enough room on my drive. So i have no idea why dvdshrink is giving me that error.

Try this then, click on start, right click my computer/properties/advanced. Go to performance settings/advanced/virtual memory change & set to about 10 below max allowed, hit the set & OK. That may help! If not I am puzzled what it could be!

Just realised that it is not geckoguy I am not helping! Not to worry though! What happened to geckoguy?

Have you tried the suggestions by Pulsar?

Any results?

Still the same issue?

Has it always done this or is this new?

download a program called enditall. It may cost you some cash, but it will free up ram for your shrinking activities. Godspeed Grasshoppah
