I want to know if I copy a dvd which needs compression to fit onto a DVD-5 DISC, That if I use a Dual Layer Disc can I use it and not have to compress the dvd files onto one disc? Any help would be great.

Yes, if you use a DL disc you will not need compression. You can do a 1:1 backup.

DVDdecrypter is great for this. Here is a nice guide to follow:

Cheers.
