After shrink does "its thing", it automatically burns the DVD. I have nero 7.0.1.4. Does shrink kick nero in to burn it or what?? I'm new at this and can't tell what's doing the work, and if that is the best way to go. Please advise

Shrink is calling for Nero after the encoding is completed.

This is a setting that you can change.

To see where these settings are:

Edit > Preferences > File I/O tab:
You will see that the "Enable burning with Nero" box is checked.

When you select "Backup!", your Backup DVD menu opens and the "Select backup target" will have your burner listed.

If you go back and uncheck the Enable burning with Nero box then you will get a note that "Nero disabled in preferences" and that the new backup target is "Hard Disk Folder".

If you go back and re-enable Nero, then you need to go back and set the target as your burner, like it was originally.

You can also tell Shrink to use DVD Decrypter to burn with.

This is a good way to go, using either Nero or Decrypter to burn with.

So long as you have the "enable burn with Nero" box ticked it will automatically go to Nero.

Thank You! It seems to work so-so as it is. I did notice on a DVD that I copied there were several minor "skips" when I watched it.

What type of media are you using, and what speed are you burning at?

Try this but make sure you have your blank media in the burner first.

After you select Backup!, the Backup DVD menu opens. Go to the Burn Settings tab and you will find the burn speed settings drop-down menu.

Set the speed to 4X or slower.

Remember to have a blank in the burner and spinning before setting this. That gives your burner a chance to relay the disc info back to the program. Otherwise there will just be "maximum" in the menu.

I don't know how good Maxell is. I burn Taiyo Yuden 8X -R at 4X.

I use DEcrypter to burn and set my burn speed to 4x. I'm sure Nero has a setting to set burn speed. Check to see it is at 4x.

I personnaly have not used Maxell -R. I use +R media by either Verbatim, Fuji(made in Japan=TY, Taiyo Yuden and Ritek Ridata. Also Ritek +RW. All of the above I have had great results. Someone will advise you on Maxell or do a search on quality DVD media.
