Since I am using three different products, I was not sure where to post this...so I started here.

I have used Shrink for a while to rip my DVD collection for viewing on MCE. Recently, I had to buy AnyDVD in order to rip newer DVD's. Then came "RipGuard" which, on my system, prohibits me from ripping DVD's such as Sky High, Madagascar, and even a That's So Raven DVD (please don't ask....my kids are rough on DVD's which is why I rip them).

Anyway, the above DVD's will not rip using only Shrink and AnyDVD so I noticed some people were having success with various Shrink options and with the addition of VobBlanker into the process.

I initially got around the problem by ripping just the main movie. I do not get to use the menus but at least I could rip the DVD. My 5 year old was watching Raven on one of my MCE systems yesterday and it froze. Completely. Hard reboot needed. Anyway, I was wondering if the RipGuard protection could still be present even in just the main movie portion and cause this?

I then tried to use VobBlanker. I opened VobBlanker leaving the defaults as is, defined my input, defined my output, clicked on Process and had it pull out the files and then used Shrink to re-rip the DVD. Even though the re-rip seemed to work, I am worried that all of the RipGuard protection was not removed by VobBlanker. I can not find any good information on how to really use VobBlanker. Does anyone know of any good sites for using VobBlanker?

Thanks

Wish I knew of some myself, I've read that VOBBlanker is good for removing Ads and Trailers.

THis is funny because I used it on Madagasgar and if I remember correctly I used it to decrypt first just like dvd decryptor does. At any rate it either takes the place of decryptor or DVD Shrink. The funny thing is I have only gotten it to work once and I have tried to figure it out since with no sucess. So if anyone knows how to use vobblanker can you please give us some feedback.

Hi Folks, I found this information in the website that probably would help for everyone.

How VobBlanker works

VobBlanker needs a FILE mode, unencrypted backup of the DVD to be processed. This backup can be done using a ripper in FILE mode or mounting in a virtual drive an unencrypted DVD image. VobBlanker uses the info stored in the IFOs to access the Cells inside the VOBs.

When the VIDEO_TS.IFO file is selected, VobBlanker reads automatically all the IFOs in the same folder and stores in memory all the required info.

Now, the user is allowed to configure how the DVD is going to be processed, which PGCs are going to be blanked, etc. The user has to select the output folder where the processed DVD will be stored.

Project settings can be saved/loaded from Menu.

VobBlanker will NOT modify any file of the input folder. It opens these files for reading.

TIP: Using different physical drives in input and output folder will increase a lot the processing performance
