i have a back up of a DVD and tried to rip it using DVD Shrink. it worked fine but it said it was like 8 gigs or so and the disc i ripped it from is only 4.7 i was wondering if any one knows what is going on.

The disc you ripped it from is a dual layer I would say and can have 2 * 4.7 on it, you need to use DVD Shrink to shrink the file size after ripping.
