Try some quality media such as Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden or Sony, Fuji, Maxell(made in Japan). Stay away from Imation, Memorex, HP, JVC, Dynex, etc.

Use dvddecrypter in ISO write mode, and with that media try burning at 2x.

Have you updated your firmware lately? Try that if it helps and I highly recommend you to use high quality media like Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim "advanced azo/datalife plus" or Maxell (mij by Hitachi), these are top notch media. I've use hundreds and hundreds (thousand) of them and I've never experienced any issues whatsoever.

The current firmware rev is 2.58, try updating then give it another shot. Get it here, enter model # in search field then choose 2.58..

You're welcome, glad you've got it all sorted out. Yes, the most important part when it comes to dvd movies backup is "high quality media". Don't use crap media, if you want to know more info about high quality media scans vs crap/low quality media, then go here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/262544
Again, my top 3 choices of top notch media are:
<> genuine Taiyo Yuden
<> Verbatim "advanced azo or datalife plus"
<> Maxell (mij by Hitachi)
Good luck at burning!!
