DVD+R or DVD-R? You need to burn it to DVD-R at a low speed. Either 2.4x or 4x. No higher!

When you say you close the tray are you using the button to close it?
Don't use the button, push the tray in with your finger as far as it will go then do the slide tool thing.
let us know how you get on.

DVD+R isn't very compatible with PS2. You'll get a "not a valid ps2 disc".

The media is your main source of the problem. You are using + and as stated above, it isn't favoured by the PS2 too much.
You need to buy good high quality DVD media. Eg, Verbatim, Tuiyo Yuden are your best bet. Have a go, and post back.

SBurge, what brand of DVD burner do you have? If it's a BenQ, LG, Lite-on, NEC, Nu Tech, Plextor, or RICOH, then you can change the booktype and burn with DVD Decrypter, and you may be able to burn it to a DVD+R in the meantime while you get your hands on some DVD-R media.

hi, i had trouble when i first got swap magic discs and i got em to work in the end by putting the swap magic disc in machine (making sure u put the correct disc in i.e dvd or cd) some games are on dvd's and some are on cd's, look on disc???, after you load swap magic disc and it comes up on screen press eject button then insert bigger toc comes up on screen press eject to let it read again then use tool to open disc tray, alot of messing about but its the only i got em to work.
i use datawrite yellow and read/write with dvd decryptor (dvds) and clone cd for cd based.
i hope this works for you Good Luck

Why did you do that? :S
Why didn't you just use the Slide Tool to open the disc tray from the start rather than faffing about with the eject button?

Yes, that's the part where you do the whole slide tool action thingy. Then you put in your back up and start it.

hi worked out what the problem was. i slowed then burning of the dvd right down to x2.0 and the games work fine. strange that slowing it down can correct it... after all it is the same info going on the disc.

Yeah slide cards are going to wear down the inside of the ps2.
And yes, slowing the burn speed helps because ps2 games are very sensitive.
