Did you purchase any? Do you have the media codes for us? Have you ever purchased and returned anything to SuperMediaStores.com?

I recently got TY from supermediastore and have few questions. The top side of the disc is light golden color and the recording surface of the disc is light blue in color. Is that how TY discs look like? I heard TY disc will have silver color and hence good dye. Any comments please?

thanks scubabud. u rock. i got a DVD-R 8x tyg02. i was wondering since the bottom view is kinda light blue in color if its not genuine as somewhere i heard the recording surface of TY media will be silver in color like original discs we buy. Am i wrong? hope we record on the bottom side surface? if so can we use a dvd marker to write on the top view surface.

appreciate your reply and time. thanks.

Thanks, and yes, we record on the bottom of the disk, the bluish or purplish color, and write on the top of the disk, the silver color.

ABSOLUTLEY! Even smiley faces to boot! :)

I put the title of the Movie, the rating, the date I backed my originals up, the main actors in the movie and also the media I used including a quick scan score using Nero. More is better they say!

actually, they aren't actually "lying" per say...linkyo is supermediastore's OWN HOUSE brand...actually, supermediastore.com is the subsidiary of Linkyo Corp., which is in turn the "parent company"...supermediastore is just the online front/store for Linkyo~ :0

as to their own Linkyo media, yes, i have some...i would not be the media authority if i didn't have/try it~ :) in the 8x DVD-R format for the Linkyo's....they are FAKE Taiyo Yudens w/ TYG02 coding, MADE IN TAIWAN (dead giveaway)...how appropriate to include that info in this thread huh? lol

while the quality IS in fact poor, as you mentioned (ie. the lying part about the quality), supermediastore DOES put their own brand into the "budget media" category, they aren't lying in the sense that they do NOT claim it's Taiyo Yuden nor do they claim it's as GOOD as Taiyo Yuden...

you have to consider the fact that ANY company out there are not going to BASH their OWN house brand~ that would be counterproductive in terms of actually SELLING their media..why would they "shoot themselves in the foot?" of course they wouldn't....

regardless, just wanted to let people know about FAKE Taiyo Yudens...under the Linkyo branding...they are MADE IN TAIWAN and have an inner hub coding of "-R8X DH-05-19 314" these are on the 8x DVD-R format~ :)

p.s. the space between the "19" and the "314" represents the ending of the main inner hub coding and the beginning of the next further down around the hub...

such an appropriate thread title....

lastly, Sharpie's all the way!!! the purdy colors ones ROCK!

thanks scubabud. appreciate your response.

after burning a disc on my TY if I look at the burned surface i could see well marked round layers circles from the center to around the outer edge on it to show the recording and not a blank media. is that normal or it should solid and we should see only a circle right at the end of the disc where the data ends.

copied from my response in a diff. thread just for you dvdsoul~ :)

@dvdsoul

well, that coding DOES verify that you GOT REAL Taiyo Yudens, in terms of the coding ON THE DISC, yes, it DOES vary from disc to disc...the ones you got happen to be the earlier 8x DVD-R TYG02s, made quite some time ago...but, nevertheless, they are real~ :)

the GG000xxx (where xxx is the batch number of WHEN it was made...the lower the number, the earlier they were made...naturally, the larger the number, ie. xxxx being 1234 means it was manufactured more recently...natural progression you could say)... :)

the inner hub coding varies for ALL Taiyo Yudens, but is on EVERY SINGLE REAL/AUTHENTIC Taiyo Yuden...

4x DVD-R = GD000xxx

8x DVD-R = GG000xxx

8x DVD+R = TG000xxx

16x DVD-R = GH000xxx

16x DVD+R = don't know yet as my shipment of the 16x DVD+R with the YUDEN000T03 coding have not arrived yet...will update you guys once i get them in... :)

docTY~

p.s. the inner hub codings are laser inscribed near the inner hub, you will have to look carefully as it's quite small as scubabud stated...but, if they are REAL TYs, they WILL be there~ *look very closely* LOL
