Since Ridata G04 1X-4X DVD-R has been discontinued, what are some good replacement brands that I could try out.

if you wish to stay with RITEK/RIDATA (great choice of media)
you could try Ridata G05-R 1-8x
if you have booktypeing compatability then R03+R is the way to go booktyped -ROM to make the disc's pretty much playable on all stand alone players
