Hello yodas,

since my first question on this forum brought me a lot of positive feedback, let me ask you another question:

I received the DVD zone1 Atlantis for Xmas. I'm in zone 2. So I decided to back it up with shrink in region free. It's OK I can see it on my laptop allright BUT, if I burn it and play it on my TV, I get a grey image (doesn't seem to be transcoded or another problem).

Is there a solution?

Some DVD players will only play DVDs that match their factory set region code setting even if the DVD is coded as region free, forcing you to play only DVDs that match it's region code. This may be the case for you, I was able to hack into my stand alone player's hidden menu and reset it for region free to avoid and problems.

If using shrink, you can have it code the DVD for region 2 to aviod any playback problems. When backing up, click on the "DVD Region" tab and set it for 2, this should give the DVD a region 2 code setting.

Gray image???? Is the player displaying any error messages???

Hi,

I tried this option but the result was the same :o(

I wonder if the problem wouldn't be NTSC/PAL than zone 1/2.

Is there a way to transcode NTSC to PAL DVDs?

One way to go from NTSC to PAL or PAL to NTSC is Nero Recode. Perhaps the easiest to use.

Hi some player can be made region free with a software hack follow this link look under multi region hacks and see if there is one for your make of player hope this is some help . http://www.dvd.reviewer.co.uk/
