1. I have been not able to find out if Imgtool Burn can create an .iso image from a 7.6 GB DVD9 VIDEO_TS folder. Will it? (I haven't attempted it because there is a check box asking whether to "reallocate file structure" & I'm not sure about that & do not want to potentially alter the folder/file's contents.)

2. If I can create an .iso of this folder (w/ whatever program) - will DVD Decrypter burn DVD9?

3. I did create an .iso of it w/ NTI CD/DVD Maker 7 - the .iso ended up being 3.99 GB so burned it onto a 4.7 GB DVD-R but it would not play (or even be recognized) on standalone DVD player so unsure why.
(Don't know if .iso should be same size as folder or not).

Many questions but thanks to anyone knowledgable enough & WILLING to tackle them!

Dont think ImgTool burn makes ISOs, try just ImgTool or ImgTool Classic. ImgTool Classic will make the iso no problem (so far no problems for me)

you can always make the iso up thru CloneDVD2. you already have the dvd ripped to your HDD so just point CloneDVD2 to whereever you have the files, let CloneDVD2 do its thing (shouldnt try to compress it, but I havent used CloneDVD2 for ISOing in awhile so not sure) and select your output method as Output to ISO.

Yes Decrypter will burn the ISO, but Id use ImgBurn since it handles DVD9 ISOs/ImGs better than Decrypter.

as for why NTI CD/DVD maker shrunk the iso down to DVD5 (4.7), I have no idea why. Did you perhaps leave NTI set to create DVD5 ISOs? Perhaps NTI doesnt support creation of anything higher then DVD5?

Yes I think you are right about NTI - it had no setting for DVD9.

I now have ImgTool burn & ImgTool Classic but when try to create the .iso w/ Classic it says "image exceeds capacity of single layer dvd by 'x' amount, do you want to continue anyway?" - do I just click "yes"?

I don't see any settings about single or dual layer, etc.

As turns out I didn't NEED an .iso after all (I was only trying that route because the project would not load/burn properly in my Nero 7 piece of @#*@.)

Rather than create an .iso I just burned onto a Ridata double layer DVD+R DL disk using ImgTool burn.

.....But alas I get "Disk Error" in my standalone so I guess it doesn't support dual layer(?). It's manual isn't clear on that but it's only 1-2 yr's old & plays PAL as well as NTSC so I was hoping it handle DVD9 also.

It DOES play on my computer ok so it was a successful burn but I never watch dvd's on pc so now will have to figure out how to split into 2 dvd5's. I was advised that this is high quality w/ multi-audio mix/sound options & dividing it would reduce it's quality &/or adversely affect these features. I don't know??

Whatever the answer to that - I will still need to divide to play on standalone (I hope!!!!!).

Thanks for your input.

yea sounds like your player doesnt like DVD+R DL discs.. you can try changing the booktype/booksetting/bitset to DVDROM and see if that helps.. Sorry, dont remember off top of my head howto change those settings in ImgTool Classic,ImgBurn.

yes it appears so, though I called Zenith & they claimed it should play them. but they didn't seem all that knowledgable...
it does play ok in my dad's cheapo dvd player so the dvd itself is ok.

I found the setting in ImgTool to "set as dvd-rom booktype" or something so could give that a try (if that might work?).

Might it play a DVD-R DL when it won't DVD+R DL?

DVD-R DL is newer than DVD+R DL so I wouldnt be postive your player will play them if it wont recongize/play DVD-R DL discs.

Your Zenith might be picky about which kind of DVD-R DL discs you use, some standalone players that DO support DVD-R DL discs have a particular brand they favor / play and others it wont. Try another brand and see what happens?
