Also, what does "power caliberation area error" mean when you're burning a disc? I searched for it on goggle. Some say it might the lens and that it is dirty. But, I don't think that's the case because I put in a dvd movie in the burner and the movie played fine.
My burner is for dvd(+)rw/r. I did insert a dvd(-)r disc though. Could that be the problem?
Or it might be the brand of the disc. I used a nexxtech brand dvd-r bought from circuit city.
People everywhere here recommend to use good DVD-R media for backing up PS2 games. I can also say by personal experience that my DVD+R media I had did not work in my PS2. So get some good Taiyo Yuden, Maxell, or Verbatim DVD-R media.
As for the power calibration that means one of two things: Either your burner is dying or you are using crappy low quality media. I suggest updating your firmware first.
