Hi guys,

I have been doing this for a while and now all of the sudden my PC has decided to start shutting down while I'm encoding using DVDShrink. Sometimes it just restarts, and other times I get the blue screen of death. This is the most recent message I received on the blue screen:

Stop: 0x000000D1
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
Beginning Dump of Physical Memory

I have DVD Shrink 3.2
DVD43 runs in the background
and Nero is my burning program

I have reinstalled both dvd shrink and dvd43 to no avail. I am running a P3 933mhz with only 256mb of RAM. Although my computer is rather ancient, I restart and close everything before I burn (which has worked in the past). Any ideas what could be wrong and what's causing this? Thanks

P.S. I have disabled the video previews in DVDShrink already

Your system do not have the resources to produce DVD successfully unless you want to start a DVD coaster collection. Your system restarts & having the BSOD have nothing to do with the software - it's a hardware issue. If you insist on doing it, make sure your HDD have at least 10Gb of unfragmented space & do a complete defragmentation before proceeding.

I just deleted some files so I now have 12 gigs available on the hard drive. I also defragged the hard drive.. And I get the same result. I'm wondering if somehow one of the dvd's that I was encoding installed something on my hard drive. Well I guess it's time for a new computer anyways. If anyone else has any ideas they'd be greatly appreciated. Thanks

make sure you don't have too many things connected to the same power supply with your computer. When it shuts down, it might also be too hot. Mine was doing the same thing. I added one more fan. Burning DVDs, especially encrypting is very demanding.
Cheers.

Using DVDshrink can be very CPU intensive, you're processor may be getting too hot, this can cause operating system lockups/freezing and random restarts. If you're not fearful, open your computer's case and make sure the cpu fan is operating correctly/spinning freely, remove any dust that may of accomulated on the fan or on any of the internal components, check all the fans and remove any dust you see. Try using shrink with the case open if possible and see what happens, it may be an over heating problem. Worse case, your power supply is starting to fail, if so just replace it, it's cheaper that buying a new system.

Okay it's starting to make sense now. I forgot to post that I have been having trouble with my fan and it's probably not doing it's job. I had taken the case off (and it's still off) to hopefully counter balance the fan. I think you guys are right and it's gotta be a hardware issue. Thanks

While I was waiting for may new fan in the mail, I took the case off and had my computer cooled off with one of those smaller fans that I usualy use in a hot summer day!
Good luck and happy burning!

Good idea. I set up a two way fan with the case off and I just had three successful burns with no restarts or coasters. Thanks for your ideas guys... problem fixed

Yup It's your Power supply! I had the same Problem and went out and bought a brand new PC (needed a better one anyway). But in anycase you can save yourself the dollars that i didn't by just shelling out 30-100 dollars for a new power supply.

Good Luck
