Hello all,
I'm new, so bear with me please. I am ripping with DVDShrink 3.2 and turning it into an iso with Folder2Iso 1.3 and burning with DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0. The burnt disc plays beautifully in the computer that it was created in, but does not play in my standalone dvd player or in my PS2. The dvd player shows "Cannot play" in the window. It seems like there is some option that I don't have set correctly in the burn process, but as I said, I'm new to this. I am burning in 4x speed though my NEC DVD recorder only writes at 2.4x. Please help.

My equipment:
Windows XP Home, 2.5 GHz, 800MB Ram, NEC DVD+RW ND-1100A firmware version 10GE.
Disc is a brand new Maxell DVD+RW 'video' with up to a 4x write speed, rewritable, Single Sided.
DVD standalone player is a Sony DVP-NS725P which I bought because it's supposed to play "anything".

What am I missing???
Thanks

Why need Folder2ISO? DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink alone can create ISO easily. Just rip it with DVD Decrypter and set the settings in DVD Shrink to "created an ISO Image and burn with DVD Decrypter".

In regards to your question about your backup not playing in your dvd player, this sounds like a media and or burning speed issues. Out of curiosity what kind of blank do you use?

These Disc should be OK.

Your player may like the DVD-ROM?s better. Check this link for Booktyping your Discs. Am pretty sure you can do it with a NEC drive and DVDDecrypter:

The media type is a brand new Maxell DVD+RW "video". Not sure why it says "video" on the dvd jacket, but it does. Would you recommend that I set the write speed to 2.4 instead of 4x? Would that do anything different? Does Nero cost? I downloaded Nero 7.0.1.4b, but I haven't tried it. Is that the right one? So you say to "booktype" it (make a dvd-rom) format. Am I saying that right? I will try that first and let you know how that goes?
Thanks,

@teleinko

By all means burn at 2.4x. At 4x your pushing the envelope, some will take it, some won?t, no need to chance getting a lot of coasters, or in this case with the RW?s, a non working disc?.

Check out the Booktyping and let us know?

Dvd Decrypter is letting me change the booktype, but not to DVD-ROM. I changed the speed to 2.4x and it's burning as I type. Will let you know in a second or two. Actually in 4:30 seconds. If that doesn't work I guess I'll try Nero, but I hope that I have the right one. Does it cost. It was 101MB download for a trial version.

Nearly 99% of all PS2 consoles doesn't like any DVD+RW media regardless of what brands. Your best bet is to have a NEC hacked firmware to set the "Book Type" from your DVD+RW media into "DVD-ROM". Keep in mind that 80% of a 2 yr old standalone dvd players may NOT be able to play DVD+RW properly, unless you have successfully "booked type" them into DVD-ROM format.

Try the NEC hacked firmware here http://liggydee.cdfreaks.com/page/3550/ or here http://www.micheldeboer.nl/firmware/index.html or here http://liggydee.cdfreaks.com/page/

Good luck!!

Tried to install Nero 7, but it is $80 and wants me to have DirectX9 before it will install the trial. Hmmmmm. Maybe i'll wait. Is the Nero Burning Rom part of Nero 7 or can I install that seperately, by itself? It probably isn't a problem in the source content is it? It's a tv series disc. Do you think my problem could be in the RIP portion of the process or is it usually in the Burn process?
