What kind of media were you using?
Did your drive recognize it?

The Island is easily backed up by using freeware DVD43 and DVD Shrink.

Hey Whirly45,

I had no problems ripping this flick with shrink and then burning with nero.

First, make sure that your version of nero is upto date, you don't state what version you have(6 or 7), but click on the link and check, if not update. Just select your version then select updates.

Second, make sure that your burner's firmware is current, follow the link and enter the model # in the search field...

Third, don't burn your backups too fast, keep the write speed at 4 or 8X (experiment to see what works best), have shrink create files sizes of 4300MB so as not to come too close to the max capacity of the DVD (not a good thing).

I always rip and burn seperately, I don't have shrink set to burn with nero, I like to perform each step myself. Here's an interactive guide to burning with nero....

good luck.
