UMD Emulator v.0.8C and which UMD? (noob)

I have an original 1.5 firmware PSP and I'm going to purchase a UMD so that I can use the UMD Emulator.

Does it matter which UMD I purchase? For example, I've heard that Grand Theft Auto won't work on a 1.5 psp...

I'm thinking of getting Wipeout or Ridge Racer.. would that suffice for running the UMD Emulator?
