After the last Any DVD update (it seems)I now cannot burn using my DVD+R, I get a "burn error, illegal disk in use", but when I use a DVD+RW...no problems. So I tried using Nero 6 Ultra to copy a disk with no CSS protection using a DVD+R and it also says "burn error" unable to read disk. This all seems to have started on the last 1 or 2 updates on my copy of Any DVD. Not 100% sure, but I used to be able to burn flawless disk, but now half dozen costers have been made. I have always used Ridata DVD's and have never had an issue like this. Any ideas where I went wrong and how to get back to nirvana of flawless burns??

did it happen when you got new media.i use ritek ridatas never 1 flaw then i seen ritek aritas for cheaper figured ritek is ritek not. the aritas made lots of frisbees wich i never did before.got fresh 100 pack of the ridatas burned them up in a day or two 100 flawless dvds.so if it happened when new media was purchased check it out.i have done dvds that are not released yet with AnyDVD,clonedvd2 and ritek ridatas media and all of them come out perfect.

As a matter of fact, I did purchase new Ritec media over the holidays that was insanely cheap and yeah they are the coasters, and my RW's are from before.

Firmware is like a set of instruction that tell your drive how to read/burn new media. Ritek have been falling out of favor as of late, try other quality media such as Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden or Sony, Fuji, Maxell (made in Japan). All media is not created equal, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is...LOL

I'll try and D/L the firmware from the maker, my burner is a old one and I don't know if they even update their firmware for it.Just weird how everything was just fine a couple of weeks ago and then BOOM! I got more coasters then I know what to do with.Is it possible for defective media to throw your system that far out of whack??

It might not be defective media but incompatability between newer media and your older burner, so the firmware update may be your solution.

im sure your firmware is fine since it happened with new media updating is not a bad thing but try media before you think it is your firmware.i back 100% with the ritek ridatas from supermediastore.com like i said before over 2000 not 1 bad using the ridatas.alot of people on this forum dont like them for sum reason but there also the ones having trouble with backing up dvds not me the only other brand i swear by is the taiyo yudens but there a little more and the whole reason i do this is about the $$$$ you save compared to purchasing.and the ridatas i have used 4x and 8x not one frisbee

The Ridata is all I've used up until now, and the price was always very economical, but this last batch that was dirt cheap I got from Meritline.com (they never responded to any of my emails by the way)I'm sending it back and plan on continuing using Ritek, only the branded stuff.
