I have just started playing with some avi files I dl'ed. I have been using nerovision express to convert the avi's to dvd format and the problem that I am having is that the audio is out of sync with the video on some of the files after being converted. Not all files are like this. Some are ok. I've also tried divxtodvd and have had the same problem. Everything is in sync prior to converting. I know this sounds like a newbie question but I have never messed with avi's prior to this. Anybody out there that can share some knowledge? Thanks in advance.

Many files that you download off of the net have VBR MP3 audio and this audio format allways either Goes out of Sync or the audio Just Plain Disapears....

To Solve this Problem you must decompress the audio in your AVI files before you convert it to DVD....

You can decompress the audio in your AVI files by running them through the Tool you can download Here:

I have been having the same problem with about 40% of the AVI files I try, so I tried the program you mentioned, decompressed the audio with no problems, converted the file, then burned it but it is still out of sync. I have over 220 gig hard drive so I doubt that is the problem, so is there anything else I could try?

Ptone: How are you encodeing your Files?? (Software,Settings,Method)

Have you tried Playing the DVD on your PC and see if it is out of Sync on your PC??

Is the audio in the AVI file in sync Before encodeing it to Mpeg-2/DVD Format??

I used the decompress program you posted to decompress the files, win avi to convert it to dvd format then dvd lab pro to burn, in dvd lab pro it said everything checks out ok before burning, also, what program would I use to view the dvd on my computer? I tried windows media player but only the audio plays and no video.

Ok I figured out how to play it on my computer and it is out of sync on my computer but only on the dvd, not on the video before burning.

I'm still having the same sync problems as before. No big deal. Now I know why I never messed with avi's. Again thanks for trying.

Ptone: It would be ebst to use a Software DVD Player Like "PowerDVD" or "WinDVD" to Play back DVD/Mpeg-2 files on your PC as Media Player doesn"t come with the Correct codecs for DVD Playback and it doesn"t Play back DVD"s very good anyways.....

If the "Video_TS" Folder Plays in sync But it isn"t in sync on your PC after Burning to DVD then it is Probably your Playback software as Opposed to the DVD, so you should Probably try it in your DVD Player to be sure....

cheers
