Hi, my old pc from pc world was a philips and since i got it , it kept freezing every 10 mins or so for about 5 seconds to 20 seconds.
I took it back and they have now replaced it with a packard bell ixtreme gold with windows media centre. after installing a couple of games and a few programs liek nero etc it does the exact same thing. freezes evry 10 - 20 mins for about 5 or more seconds.
while it freezes i can hear my hard drive stop working and then as soon as it unfreezes i can hear it start working again.
Why the hell does it do this. Is it just a coincedence that both pcs keep freezing. I've only had it about 2 - 3 weeks now. I have norton internet security and avg on this computer and also ad aware personal and scanned numerous times and nothing is found so it can't be any virus.
pleas help. thanks

when does your comp freeze? after you go on the internet? or after you load up a program? if so what program? and i dont think its a good idea to have to anti viruses running but that im not sure. i got a phillips freeline from pc world and it froze for about 2-4mins wen ever i logged on to the internet and it turned out i needed to update the drivers.

nope no clicking noise. just suddenly stops for a few seconds and then hard drive starts working again when unfreezes. It does freeze more while playing games or with lots of applications open but it does do it just on the desktop when im doing nothing. thanks
