Everytime I watch a DVD on my PS2, I get the prompt to temporarily set the level. I enter my registared code and it lets me watch. I want to turn the parental level to 8 or better yet, off. When I hit select and access the menu and go to the parental settings screen, I cannot select it. It doesn't highlight blue, it highlights a lighter shade of gray. I tried the hit select, enter 7444, entered 0000 as my new code, ejected the DVD, and turned off the console. I still cannot access the parental level controls! I even called Sony and they walked me through this whole process. After I told them "I still cannot hightlight or accesst the parental settings menu," they said "Sorry, I can't help you, is there anything else I can do for you?"

Is there anyone who can help me?

or go to the official Sony Playstation website. They have manuals on all versions and a section will tell you what the code to enter is if you forget yours.

blujet...

I tried your link. It told me the exact thing I did that I described in my first posting. I don't get it... I rest the "code" by using the 7444 delete code thing and I'm still screwed. I think I just have a defective PS2?

Well, I tried it again and I went to the Sony Playstation web site and got the correct manual... nothing happened. I still cannot access the parental controls.

I was able to get pass the same problem myself with a newly purchased slim PS2. Finally I tried putting in a porno DVD and it let me access the parental controls and change them. I ejected and the changes were saved. It wouldn't work with an R-rated DVD. I know it's an old post, but maybe this can help someone else out or even the OP.
