dvd burner advise

i have a new dvd burner. sony rdr gx315. cannot burn movies off dish. i will return this burner if anyone knows a brand that does not recognize copy protection.
or what is the best hardware out there that disables copyprotection.
wtf good is a burner if you cannot copy a movie!!
any help would be appreciated.
ya i tried a couple of recomended tricks, like running signal through vcr first none work

you cannot burn off dish with simple burners and usb..
there is a forum in yahoo fo that... and a lenghtly process. i have dish and i have loads of movies i'd like to transfer to dvd, but all the steps involved seems to be time consuming..

u could try a vid card like the one im using then check under my sig for doom9 fix for macrovision. they also make cables for this. its been a while since i did this, so things might have changed. my card came with software that would capture in AVI format. i did this back in 03, so like i said it- could be a little differnt now.

@ gamename... that card will not work with the dish satellite.
you need their 'pocket dish' to do so. however, there are hacks. you need to power down the unit, remove the internal hard drive from the PVR, then install it to the computer with some software, extract the files and load to the hard drive on the pc.
it was too much work for me, so i left mine alone. did not want to mess up my equipment, cuz with dish, you have to return the equipment when you cancel services.

@ loco... i personally have not meddeled with my DVR's HDD, but from the site that i subscribed too, its like it is on tv, if you get hi-def.. then you get great quality, if its just digital, then you get sub-par picture. but still looks good, as good as TV gets !!
search yahoo groups for dish mods, you'll see !!

@ gear, i see what ur saying. the way i did it was with a standard direct tv reciever. i spliced the cable to run to my pc. so whatever was playing on tv played on my pc via the the card. i used to play games and watch tv at the same time. i could capture using vidcard unless it was pay-per-view. the patch let me capture those too. i havent tried a dvr yet, and probably wont. however i was thinking about getting an hd reciever and hd dish from direct tv. i dont think these come with hard drives. maybe i can do the same with it, as long as its just macrovision protection. i should know in a few months.

well direct tv has TiVo and dish has DVR.. so yes, they have hard drives built in.. i think the dish has like 120 gig hdd and tivo like 100 gig..
