HI everyone i'm new here so go easy on me please

I'm thinking of buying a psp and i'm told that i'm best to get one that has firmware 1.5 on it so i can play retro games on it and homebrew stuff.
Is this correct?
Also if i do get this version if i can find one.
Could i play xvids on it and i take it i could play backed up iso files of games?
Do i just have to drop and drag from pc to psp?
Do the xvids need encoding to something else or will play as xvids?

I'm told that sony will keep on updating the firmware and by doing this only some games will work by using iso files. So if you had firmwear 2.0 you wouldn't be able to play games that needed 2.6 is this correct and how true is it?

Also can you play spectrum and amiga games using a emulator. As i have loads of roms for these and love playing them on the pc.

Is there any difference between the japanese and uk models as i've found a few japanese ver 1.5 on a well known auction site. I mean is it all in english and the games display in english when you play them?

yer buy it is correct only 1.5 can play iso's (backed up games. 2.0 can run some homebrew with the 2.0 eboot loader. and as for the jap psp , english games work on it , its just the movies ya might have a problem with

Thanks for the reply mate.
The movies wouldn't bother me to much as i'd use xvids. Do i just drag and drop them to the psp or do i have to convert them first?

u just download a program called pspvideo 9 , it converts the movie 4 ya and makes all the folders 4 you
