i converted the avi using avi2dvd and encoded using HCEnc then burned using dvd decrypter i played the dvd on a dvd player and i only got a couple of seconds of the movie basically the intro where the universal globe is coming on i was thinkin that something prolly corrupted the burning process but i went back and checked the dvd image file tried playing it and the samething happened.

does anyone know why i am experiencing this problem?

What speed did you Burn your DVD at??? Your Problem sounds Like you May Have Burned the Disk at too high of a speed...

When Makeing Video DVD"s you should allways Burn the Disks at the Slowest speed Possible (2.4x) if you want the Disk to play back from beginning to end.....

Try this simple check: is, the original AVI, fully contained in the the encoded movie or not (play them on your PC)? How long is, the encoded movie?

I'm asking you this because you might be converting into DVD movie only the first couple of seconds of the AVI.

Well First you can Quit Shouting?? I can Hear you allready!! lol

Like Aldaco Said it is Probably something to Do with the encodeing Then...

Try encodeing the AVI Again but useing a Different Encoder (Maybe Try DivXtoDVD or TMPGEnc??)

One Tip so you don"t waste DVD"s is to allways Preview the "Video_TS" folder in a Software DVD Player Like PowerDVD or WinDVD before Burning to make sure the Files Playback properly.....

Well My Method Is Extremely Advanced and Complicated But If you use something Like "VSO DivXtoDVD (Freeware Version)" you don"t need any Instructions as it Can only do One thing so you can"t Screw it up...

If you get the Same problem with other programs then you Might Consider that the AVI file is Corrupted....

Just in the case the file were corrupted, try fixing it with a Video fixing program (I used only Video Fixer http://www.video-fixer.com , but, probably, many similar programs exist).
I cannot assure you the file can be successflully fixed, but if the error contunues with any ancoder you test, it's the only thing you can try to (except finding another AVI or buying a brand new copy of the movie).

A simple check could be made with TMPGenc (the free version can only encode AVI -> MPEG-1, but since this is ony a copy, you just have look at the output mpeg, unless you choose Settings__Advanced__Source range, TMPGenc will try to process the whole movie.

Otherwie, but no guarantee, you might open hte AVI with VirtualDub and see if it gives, just after opening it, some warning.
