Can anyone please help me with this burn error. I have copied the Nero log. I used Decrypter to rip, Shrink to shrink and Nero to burn. I am using Verbatim media. It is a Will & Grace video.

Not a good thing, this denotes hardware problem with your drive. You can try dl the latest update for Nero which is 6.6.0.18. Also, try burning at 4x and not the 8x and see if this makes any difference.

Thanks for the response. Although I guess that is really not good. Any ideas on what could cause that?

Another thing you can try is different media. Your media is not being recognized - all it shows is +r. This maybe your problem but if your using quality media like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim then it sounds like what arniebear said a problem with your drive. You can also try a lens cleaner for your drive.

Thanks Arniebear and Blinkie. Not what I wanted to hear but I guess I may need to look at a new burner. Appreciate the help. Will look at those links and see if that helps.

I would start with the cheaper suggestions 1st. Hopefully it's just your media & burn speed or a dusty lens.
What brand of discs are you using?

I was able to burn a CD with the drive. I also use Verbatim CD-R's. Would seem that if it was a problem with the drive that it would not let me burn a CD either. Any thoughts?

Two different lasers - 1 for cd's -1 for dvd's.
Verbatim's are good quality - did you lower the burn speed also?

Did not know that. I have not tried to burn another dvd yet. I tried a lens cleaner as suggested but my burner is not recognizing the disc. It does, however, recognize other dvds. very strange.

Okay, I tried to clean the burner but it would not recognize the disc. I updated Nero to the latest version and was able to burn one disc (at 4x) without any problem. I got a burn error on the second disc I tried to burn with Nero. I also burned a disc with decrypter without any problems.
Here is the Nero log. It appears different from the previous log and error. Any help would be appreciated.

Well I'm at a loss.
Quote: SCSI_TASTATUS_CHKCOND
Usually means your drive doesn't like the media. Maybe you got a bad batch of Verbatims. Is the manufacturer id MCC? Is decrypter able to id the manufacturer? Who made the +rw's that worked? Sorry for all the questions - kinda perplexed here. Plus your drive didn't like the cleaning discs so I'm wondering. Besides the links arniebear gave you can also try to blow some canned air in your drive. Not heavy duty just 'lightly'. Check your drives connections also - make sure they're properly seated.

Let's see if I can answer all those. The RW's were also verbatims. I tend to think that it was just a bad batch as well. I have now burned several +r without any problems from a different batch of verbatims. That still does not explain why the drive doesn't recognize the cleaning disc though. I am a little confused about that as well. At the moment it appears to be working okay with a different set of verbatims.
the manufacturer id is MCC 003 I believe.

Well hopefully this one can just be chalked up to a bad batch. That's usually not the case w/ verbatim but it can happened. Guess we can't expect perfection all the the time :)
Glad to hear another batch is working well!!
