Pixellation on a DVD can be caused by crappy media, burning too fast and out of date firmware. What is the make/model of your burner, what brand disks are you using, how fast are you burning, and when was the last time you checked to make sure your firmware on your burner was up to date?

Current for that drive is 1.0A

You can check through Decrtyper just go into the Tools Tab then Drive and Capabilities.

It may be your dvd player. Consult your manual to see if it supports DVD+-R formats. I tried backuped movies at my inlaws house and they had an older dvd player and it did the exact same thing, yet the same movie has no problems on my home player.

What brand of media are you using, is it something you have always used. I have an NEC 1300A although it is not too picky on media there are some brands it just does not like.

@gramsie

What programs do you have, if you have Nero or DVD Decrypter you can check it that way. The make and model is the brand of drive you have such as an NEC 1300A or BenQ 1620 etc.

@ wgullion

I have the same dvd burner and I never did the firmware update... reason being I was not having any troubles. When I had the problem you are talking about (freezing up) it was because of the type of media I was using. I had memorex and it would not play on one of my players but did on others... I changed to sony DVD-R made in Japan and have no problems what-so-ever burning at 4x. So my guess is, you need a better type of media!

@gramsie

If this is your drive then there is no known fw update for it.
