How do I burn a divx movie file to a cd-r, and have it work in my home dvd player?

Check this guide, adjust where neccessary e.g. If you don't need subtitles then skip that step. http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/divx_with_subtitles_to_vcd.cfm

Ok hee's a quick guide from me.
Open up nerovision
Drag and drop your AVI file/s
remove/ edit chapters and menu however you want.
Start process and burn to cd-r. But I strongly recommend burning onto DVD instead as it can hold longer movies and better quality of video.
