TDK DVD-R 8x

I was wondering if backed up dvd's and divx movies will run well on a TDK DVD-R 8x for my playstation 2. I don't want to buy large quantities and not having them work. Any help???

TDK's can be good but they can be bad also. If they are made in japan they are good quality media, otherwise they are probably made by 'CMC Mag' and they are crap.

The way to find out is to use a program call 'DVD Identifyer' (In my sig), in order to do this you need to put a blank disc in your dvd and run the program.

You can also check www.videohelp.com (Click DVD Media on the right hand side) it has lists of what media will work with what, IE If those disc will play on a PS2 or not.

as to TDK (ugh!), Deline's hit the nail on the head there, there's too much risk of ending up with crap discs without being able to tell from the packaging. there's a link in my sig about it which links off to many other media horror stories. good media recommendations are also in my sig

stick with deline's tips and creaky's sig..
as far as i know (i dont do ps2 back ups) but ps2 is pickey with media.. use known good quality media such as taiyo yuden - format or verbatim - format and burn very very slow.

using known trusted media is whats suggested here.. tdk is just not worth the risk, and for what you pay, you can get top notch media for the same price or less, just gotta find the deals..

and they (the deals) are posted here weekly in the media forums..

TDK 8x TTG02 from Costco have been good to me = no complains. But I got the Sony deal from Staples this week as I found the 2 of the MIJ spindles of the DVD-R #50.
Best deal was the MIJ Fuji DVD-R #30 for $8.94 at Staples that turned out to be TYG02. I'm still waiting for that one to come back.

With TDK and most media for that matter... (Few Exceptions) always look for Made in Japan on the label... Most media made in japan is top quality.. if you have any ?'s about TDK or any other media brands you can always check this site for some reviews...
