It's cheaper/wiser to buy inkjet printable media. While you may not get issues on playback; try to copy that backup... That's just MY opinion/experience, though. All that really matters is YOUR satisfaction...

I would agree with the above, but for other new members who might be reading this thread I would also like to mention that most here would agree on two things:

Memorex is one of the worst DVD media and recommend to stay clear. (So much better for the same or less price.)

Labels have caused more DVD playback errors then even bad media.

When i first started backing up discs (2 an half yearago) I put labels on them (dozen or so) and they all played fine in various dvd players. I soon got fed up with all the hassle, so just used a sharpie.

The ones I put labels onto, nowadays don't play in any other dvd player except my trusted pioneer DV-464 standalone.

i can't back them up cause they are unreadable on my PC's.

I'd definately recommend not using labels

right.. but then after a while.. the label comes off and throws off the balance on the disc..

you're better with going the discs that already have it on there..

some inkjet printables

thats funny.... they are also garunteed to mess up... did you read the fine print ???

anyway, stick to a sharpie marker or buy printable media and the new epson printer, r340 at best buy, its on sale for 179 with a 35 dollar rebate..
the results are way better then them crappy stick on lables that in the future will ruin your disks... if not now, later... they always do.

well, whatever works for you...
i won't ever stick any labels on any of my media..
i'd rather take one for the team before i stick a label on my disks.
thats why i bought my epson printer to print direct to the disk.

99% of the members here don't use stick on labels either.

and this my friend, was the first page ONLY

all i am trying to do is to get you to make a wise choice..

stick on dvd labels is by far the worst thing you can do to media disks..
i'd stick with what the majority has to say... and not believe the hype..

sorry for calling you a weirdo, but i'd rather pass on good advice then have a fellow member coming back and saying..... i put these stupid labels on, now it ruined my dvd player, what was i thinking?

Yea thanks but the labels they say are made out of polysterfilm and not paper. The labels causes errors because the paper cant expand and make uneven balance but these labels claim that they are made of special film and but if you do reccomend the printer then i will get it when i get money just trying these new labels out and so far a go for me maybe in time will tell if they do last.Im going to do some experimenting with just 5 labels and many dvd players to see how they work and playback issues. So far no errors with them thanks for the advice.

Well, just to add some fuel to the fire for arguments sake.
First off, I do not recommend using any labels on disks.
With that said, about 6-7 years ago or even longer, well before I knew anything better, I did place labels using Stomper on cd's not on dvd's though. I still have a few left and play just well in any device. Matter of fact did a scan on them and they are just fine. On the other hand, my other half just received a labeled disk from the boss, as soon I opened the case I could tell that it was peeling away from the disk. So I guess the whole labeling thing might have to do with the quality of the materials used and the way they are applied. The reason I stopped using them, again years ago, was that I started thinking a bit about it, I figured that the glue and paper might deform the disk itself. Also the glue might react with the surface of the disk and render it useless.
After all this time reading all the posts regarding this issue it looks like I did the right thing.
Now just printing away happily and with better quality.
Just my 2c

I agree with Gear...

I wouldn't want to be LABELED in any way!!! <G>

@ johny24

We are not picking on you in any way. You brought to the table what you believe is a great way to use labels on DVD's and we brought to the table our current knowledge on why we feel it is not the way to go. Just like politics there will always be a difference of opinion and no one would agree 100% with everyone else's views. I for one appreciate the fact that you created a thread to enlighten other members in your belief.
