Your Nero is really old, you should update to the latest of Nero 6 Ultra 6.6.0.18

Your firmware is old as well. According to rpc1 forum, your new firmware is JYS3, here http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2081 however, it doesn't have one for download. So, you may have to got to SONY's storage support page here http://sony.storagesupport.com/dvdrw/index.htm and ask them for a new firmware update on your burnere for media compatibility.

All of your controllers/drivers DMA are Off, it needs to be On or DMA Available. To troubleshoot DMA and enable DMA back On, follow this simple guide to "uninstall" its drivers. Here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/260038

This is a little bit too close to the edge, you should try to customize to 4380MB or at least 4400MB with high quality media like Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim "advanced azo/datalife plus" or Maxell (mij by Hitachi), these are top notch media. I've used tons (hundreds and hundreds) of them flawlessly.

Again, looks like your burner doesn't like the media you're using. Try to get your burner's update for a new firmware, then try to use high quality as mentioned above.

Try to burn at 4X -- yes... 4X is the best and most recommended speed for burning.

Good luck!!

Just tried again no luck! i did it 8X by accident but 4x doesnt work either, tried as well.

Sony never actually made a firmware for my DVD RW so there isn't one, also the Nforce drivers won't uninstall, if you do it they only reinstall exactly the same next time, and if you try to switch to the windows ones they revert back to nforce on restart, so i cant get DMA on at all at the mo.

I haven't got any other media to try, but ill see if can get some after work, but any help how to remove these nforce drivers would be good.

Hi,
I just started using Nero Recode a couple months ago and have had no problems with discs in the past. Just recently my computer has begun telling me that it is an illegal disc. I have reinstalled all of my Nero applications to make sure they are current but have had no success. Thought maybe with another logfile someone could tell me what I am doing wrong...also I was using DVD Decrypter at the time...anyone have a suggestion on a new product that works the the same with the same type of excellent result.
Please help, thanks,

Sorry to keep filling up the posts but my other problem with recode is that I am unable to check the advanced analysis box while burning...this function worked untill reinstalling all of the software over again in an attempt to fix my illegal disc error problem...any suggestions at all i will be happy to take.
Thanks again,

@orius,
The Nforce drivers WILL uninstall I uninstalled mine. In Windows XP go to control panel>add remove programs>find Nvidia drivers & uninstall there.

Use The Best Media for The Best Burns! TYs, Verbs,(Made in Taiwan) Sony MIJs (YUDEN000 T02), Sony Made in Taiwan DVD+R 16x, Maxell MIJ, RITEK G05.

ok... whoever sed i can remove these nforce 4 drivers is an idiot. it asks for them on the pc before it even loads up windows, i had to repair xp to get them back on...only jus fixed all the damaged software and drivers.

I have to have them on, end of story or pc won't work. on the drivers DMA is 100% definatly turned on, and always has been, but on nero it says it isn't, I've looked and someone has said that its an issue that nero and nivida drivers don't like each other, but solution was to not have any software which virtual drives on the pc (which i don't).

This is how i stand now at the mo:

Bigfatboy,
Thanks a lot. That worked great but I'm still having trouble with the advanced analysis part of the recode...after reinstalling everything the option to check advanced analysis in recode is unavailable...it simply remains gray... I believe that when I can check this my dvds come out in better quality.
Thanks again,

newbie here - have the (apparently) total unusable SONY DVD RW DW-D26A - and when i go to burn to the drive it reads that I've got to insert a blank disc into the drive - there's one there - trust me - it won't accept it - i've used a number of different brands to my expense - I don't have the time or the expertise to repair my entire machine if i screw this one up (lol) - what to do to get this back working - BigFatBoy - is your last update the key???? HELP!!!! And - on another note - how the heck can Sony make something and offer no support and no updates!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gracias kids! j

i've read your drive is actually a lite-on 1673s and people use lite on firmware for your sony

here is a update for your sony - http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2081

google search for your drive to find more info

BigFatBoy - love ya lots - BUT - i've been to that link earlier and it has that ugly disclaimer
These pages are only for advanced users. Bad flashing could destroy your drive definitively. Read carefully the installation notes of your firmware before you upgrade. The Firmware Page and the drive manufacturer can't be responsable on REMEMBER: This is at your own risk!!!!

destroying my drive definitively would suck out loud
are you totally 100% on this ugliness???!!!
